    The Things They Carried is a collection of short stories written by Tim O'Brien. This is a story describing a group of soldiers and the items they carried in their bags and in their hearts. Soldiers were forced to carry vital items they might need to survive during the war. The items they took from home brought them comfort during difficult times in their lives. O'Brien uses what soldiers took to war to describe them. This novel includes a group of intertwined stories that describe the experiences of soldiers during the Vietnam War. On the other hand, Three Day Road is a novel by Joseph Boyden. This novel tells the story of two soldiers Xavier Bird and Elijah Whiskey Jack who fought in the First World War. Xavier returns injured after the war when he is addicted to Morphine, a drug that helps him forget everything about the war and the pain in his leg. The Things They Carried and Three Day Road are war books in which we learn about the lives of soldiers, however, soldiers dealt with war differently. In Things They Carried, war is described as impersonal and at the same time individualized. The soldiers in the story each carried items that they thought would be useful to them in war. On the other hand, through the items they carried, each soldier was able to bring something different through their own habits, however, in the grand scheme, their individualism meant nothing. In Things They Carried, O'Brien explores the emotional and psychological aspects. aspect of the war through its characters. Soldiers were emotionally tortured by the war they were about to participate in, and the emotional baggage they carried counterbalanced their physical agony. They carried cigarettes, food, equipment, belongings, papers... and feared death. Nevertheless, the Three Day Road soldier used a drug called Morphine to forget the horrors of war.
