Essay / The Negative Effects of Drug Rehabilitation - 717
Advances in medical science over the past few decades have dismantled old theories and shown humans how to treat addiction most successfully. Rehab centers are much better homes for drug addicts because they provide proper care, cost less, and even report positive results after treatment, while prisons negatively impact inmates with their trafficking systems of drugs, government costs and the lack of qualified assistance for drug addicts. Throwing a drug addict into prison and expecting him to get better is like putting a dog in a room full of toys and food and expecting him to just sit there; it doesn't work. Rehabilitation is the best option for influencing addicts and their families, while not costing a pretty penny.
