    While Montag is at the fire station, the alarm sounds. Montag responds to the fire, only to realize that the house is his. Clearly, his nonconformity was too much for Mildred. Her suitcase packed, she brought back her husband's stash of literature and walked away from the interruption he had caused in her dull life. At this point, Montag must decide whether to return to his carefully structured normal life, or continue on the rugged path toward what he considers to be a life worth living.
