Before starting this course, I was not very sure who was considered poor and who was not. My idea of poverty is linked to the starving children you see on television in third world countries and it never really occurred to me that poverty is also one of the biggest problems facing society faces in the world today. Before this course, I did not know that the southern part of the United States was historically the part of the country that suffered the most from poverty, while the Midwest part fared better. I also... middle of paper ...... and other problems are getting worse. I answered yes to this question the first time, but upon reflection I understand that other issues also need to be considered. Overall, my responses to the survey questions were almost identical. However, after learning all the information provided by this course, my view of poverty changed dramatically. The impact of poverty in the United States as well as the rest of the world is a problem that absolutely must be taken seriously and eliminated. as quickly as possible. This course showed me a variety of different factors that contribute to the evolution of poverty and that need to be erased. Globalization and increasing levels of opportunity and education as well as increased monetary contributions could be a huge step forward towards eliminating global poverty..
