    There are many academic textbooks, articles, and journals on organizational change management, but there is no single or specific answer. This report attempts to interpret, analyze and provide a critical review of some of the various approaches to organizational change published as far back as the 1940s. In total, 10 theories from a combination of academic articles and textbooks were read . Six theories were categorized under the “Task” and “Person” approaches to leadership, while the remaining four theories were categorized under “Planned,” “Emergent,” “Contingent,” and “Choice” approaches. These 2 themes were chosen because the success of organizational change depends to a large extent on the competence of leaders and there are many ways to bring about change. It is important to select the right approach to apply organizational change. The approach must be tailored to the type of change, the strength of the leader, and the structure and culture of the organization. Being able to adapt to constant change makes the organization less vulnerable to unpredictable or sudden changes. This report concludes with some additional factors that have been neglected in theories, namely time/urgency and cultural differences.1.
