Cloe Madanes once said that psychotherapy is the art of finding the angel of hope in the midst of terror, despair and madness. Cloe Madanes was born in Argentina in 1945. She studied psychology and obtained her license twenty years later. After this, Madanes became associated with the Mental Research Institute of California and her work was heavily influenced by her mentors Gregory Bateson, Salvador Minuchin, and Milton Erickson (Madanes, 2004). In 1976, Madanes and her ex-husband, J. Haley, founded the Family Therapy Institute in Washington, DC. Madanes belongs to the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. In 1996, she received the Egner Foundation Award for Distinguished Contribution to the Fields of Philosophy, Psychology, and Anthropology, as well as the 2000 California Psychological Association Award for Distinguished Contribution to Psychology ( Annals of the American Psychotherapy Association, 2002). Cloe Madanes is interested in preserving children's rights and preventing family violence. Mayor Gavin Newsom presented her with an award in 2005 for her advocacy on behalf of children (Cloe Madanes :: Curriculum Vitae, nd). Cloe Madanes and Anthony Robbins formed the Robbins-Madanes Strategic Intervention Center in 2000. The goal was to help resolve issues related to clients' professional and personal lives using social science and psychology. “Strategic intervention strives to meet the needs of all members of a family, community or business while providing therapy services and other interventions in a shorter period of time ( Biography of Cloe Madanes, 2013). Having the individual's family attend his therapy session shows how much his family members care about him and want him to get help for any problems he may be experiencing. This is very important because it is a sign of love and it shows the support they have for each other. Therapists have also found that during strategic family therapy, they can help all family members encourage each other and create psychologically healthy rules and interactions for all family members involved. This will make it easier for family members to get along and understand each other. When someone in the family is having problems, other members should take the time to talk and help each other, especially the family member who needs help..
