Essay / Comparing fact and fiction: all the president's men
It's been 42 years since the Nixon presidency ended because of the Watergate scandal. All the President's Men, the film depicting the Watergate scandal, accurately depicts the events surrounding President Nixon and the recording of the Democratic Party headquarters. This historical accuracy is evident in the portraits of the two Washington Post reporters who covered the story, in the description of the events that took place to expose the scandal, and in the recounting of the steps that led to Nixon's resignation. the journalists who investigated and exposed the wrongdoing were accurately depicted in the film. These two journalists were Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein. Together, they formed a duo of investigators who changed History. Woodward was an inexperienced journalist at the time. “Woodward had only worked for the Post for nine months,” states the book All the President's Men (Bernstein and Woodward 13). Bernstein was the most experienced journalist. "Bernstein had dropped out of college. He started as a copier at the Washington Post at age 16, became a full-time reporter at 19, and had worked at the Post since 1966" (Bernstein and Woodward 15). The Washington Post's chief reporter highlights Woodward's lack of experience in the film and requests that a more experienced journalist take on the file. However, if another journalist had taken up the matter, it is possible that they would have considered the matter meaningless and would not have investigated further. The determination and perseverance of Woodward and Bernstein uncovered one of the greatest political scandals of the 20th century. Bernstein and Woodward didn't realize how well they worked together. "They had never worked on a piece of paper...they had also used his resignation. Thanks to Woodward and Bernstein's investigation of Nixon, the film All the President's Men accurately depicts the main reason why Nixon late resigned. In conclusion, the film All the President's Men is an accurate depiction of the Watergate scandal. This is seen through the portrayals of Bob Woodword and Carl Bernstein, the events that took place to reveal the crime and the stages. which finally ended the Nixon presidency scandal.
