Essay / Advantages and disadvantages of a globalized world
The world has undergone several changes, as well as the economy, technology and everything that represents progress for humanity. All of these things today are driven by globalization which is, in turn, free market capitalism with the aim of creating progress and integration of the world. It is important to say that globalization is neither good nor bad, but it is an idea that was created for the better of the world. The problem with this idea is that although it brought great benefits, the results were devastating. In terms of businesses, small businesses have been impacted by larger ones, leading to their closure. In environmental matters, the leisure zone was replaced by industrial parks, which increased pollution. Globalization has also increased poverty, slum population, exploitation and inequality around the world. One of the main goals of globalization is to help businesses improve in the market. However, why is it that what is supposed to bring development has become a problem for businesses? Let's take an example: if you go to China and you are planning to buy a Chinese food, but on the way to buy it, you come across a typical American fast food restaurant known as McDonald's. At that point, perhaps you will feel more drawn to the food of your home country than that of abroad. This is when globalization begins, because at that point the place where you were going to buy the Chinese food has lost you as a customer due to competition. It is positive that globalization has opened its arms and broken down the barriers allowing companies from another country to sell abroad. However, this free market capitalism has had serious consequences for foreign companies...... middle of paper ...... but without industrialization, sources of employment are limited. As a result, the number of unemployed increases and the economy also declines. Davis asserted that “the Third World now contains numerous examples of capital-intensive countryside and labor-intensive deindustrialized cities. In other words, “overurbanization” is driven by the reproduction of poverty, not the creation of jobs” (Davis 16). In summary, globalization is neither good nor bad, but simply an idea for the better of the world. . It also brought industrialization, technological progress, employment and development to cities. Although globalization has been a source of good development, it has also had its drawbacks such as increasing poverty and slum population, exploitation, environmental problems, closure of small businesses and inequality in the world..
