    Brian Dodd wrote the book Empowered Church Leadership Ministry in the Spirit. According to Paul, “what leaders need most are not new techniques, but an awareness of the leading of the Spirit, of the importance of prayer and prayer. the essentially team nature of effective ministry,” indicating that leaders must work together. Often, leaders may have the potential to act without God's guidance, which poses a danger to leadership. Moreover, anyone who wants to find God's path and direction knows the need for a point of reference. Without God's positioning, a leader might as well find himself without a fixed point of reference and without goals. In fact, without the certainty of God's provision, a leader cannot follow a secure path of leadership. Leaders need eternal points of reference on God's word and God's will. According to Dodd, this need has never been greater for church leaders. The question then should be: what is the Church when it comes to leadership? Church leaders are the builders of faith in God's people. It is easy to see that the Church is certainly made for people; people are not made for the Church. Leadership then can be effective in many ways when executed with good intentions and motives. Kouzes and Posner say there are five ways leaders can exercise exemplary leadership. These ways include: (1) modeling the way, (2) inspiring a shared vision (3) challenging the process (4) enabling others to act, and (5) encouraging the heart. The Five Exemplary Leadership Practices are the core leadership skills that emerged from our analysis of thousands of cases of personal leadership experiences.
