  • Essay / Life Teachings Across the River - 1556

My father was always a man of infinite knowledge to those who were willing to listen. Unbeknownst to him, his knowledge extends beyond what he has to teach. For example, when asked how to clean a fish, he explains the process in detail. From the incision to the scaling of the fish, he will always emphasize care and attention to the smallest details. In each lesson, the majority of his teachings show that no matter how long the task takes, any person will always have enough time to complete what they set out to do. As in most aspects of life, the same principles apply. The most memorable moment of my life was the ecstatic look on my father's face when I told him I would love to learn to fly fish. This path is almost always bumpy and is certainly not straight. In a classroom, a person may completely disagree with a teacher and never heed their advice. In others, the teacher may very well be one or even the only reason for attending that class. Whatever the circumstances, patience will play an extreme role in everyone's success in their educational journey. Now, patience is never the only thing that gets a person through, determination plays the role of perpetuating patience, much like eating your dinner. For many, the determination is to achieve a better, more fulfilling life. For some, the goal is simply to enjoy their future career. Either way, patience, determination and, if that person is capable of it, a little finesse will take anyone far..
