  • Essay / Importance of the Five Senses - 1010

As stated previously, not all smells are pleasant and valuable. When a bad odor is present, the environment is immediately uncomfortable for anyone in it. Without the ability to sense, I would be able to remain present in many unpleasant situations without feeling uncomfortable. Additionally, it would allow me to do activities that are currently difficult for me to cope with because of the odors. One of these activities is to dye my hair; without odor, I could color my hair without any protest from my nose! Body odor is another scourge of the nose, and without odor, it wouldn't be a problem! The lack of smell might also reduce my desire to eat all the time. As stated earlier, smell causes the urge to indulge in food most of the time. Therefore, no delicious smell could reduce the desire to eat and help me stay healthier. Additionally, some odors are so repulsive that they can make a person sick, and this would be eliminated if the sense of smell were absent. The benefits of smell are often overlooked, as are the benefits of not acquiring the sense of smell.
