Essay / Reflecting on the internship - 748
I am now expected to move into a professional role. This will require me to show initiative and have a desire for knowledge and new experiences that I cannot gain in the classroom. This professional role will also place particular emphasis on organizational and time management skills. It will be imperative that I use my time wisely in order to get the most out of the field placement (Danowski, 2012). It's much easier to ask open-ended questions with your peers in class than once you have a client in front of you. A person who does not know how to express their own needs often needs coaching to understand what they might need. As Danokowski (2012) stated, “You have to feed them today so you can teach them to fish tomorrow so they can fend for themselves for a large part of their lives” ( p.51 ).
