Women who choose to be bottle-fed become an ethical dilemma for midwivesIn this essay, we will discuss the ethical dilemma faced by midwives -women face when a Women choose to bottle feed their babies, who have no medical requirement not to breastfeed. Moreover, why bottle feeding their babies is the choice of women. Why breastfeeding is better for mother and baby than bottle feeding. Women who choose to bottle feed their babies. Women who choose to bottle feed their baby can decide why they bottle feed their baby, through a number of factors. The woman's age; their level of education; her cultural background, all of which can help her decide to bottle feed, for example if she was raised on formula and her friends and family all bottle fed their babies, they are more likely to choose to bottle feed. That of the father can also have an influence on the choice of food; lack of support from midwives, family and friends; the woman prefers to see how much milk her baby is getting and whether she feels uncomfortable breastfeeding. All of this can contribute to how a woman chooses to bottle feed her baby. Benefits of bottle feeding all the time. Feeding also allows fathers to share nutrition and promotes bonding between father and baby (Murkoff, 2008). Women would also feel like they would have more freedom if they were bottle-fed; she wouldn't have to worry about her diet. Babies will sleep longer when formula is used (NHS, 2010). Bottle feeding is easier on baby than breastfeeding. Additionally, for women who do not feel comfortable breastfeeding, there is no public display when middle of paper is suitable for both mother and baby. Some mothers choose to bottle feed for many different reasons, but it is not up to midwives to force or guilt women about how they should feed, even if they know breastfeeding would be better for mother and baby.
