Essay / I was born and raised - 874
I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Fredericton, New Brunswick. I have a twenty year old older brother, Oliver, who has now been living away from home for 5 years to pursue his hockey career. Under these circumstances, we still remain very close and continue to communicate every day. My mother being French and my father English, they wanted me to grow up bilingual. That being said, they chose to enroll me in the local French school, École Sainte-Anne, which I attended from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Growing up, I always had a house full of dogs. I currently have two Brittany Spaniels named Abbe and Molly, as well as a Yorkshire Terrier named Sophie. My parents divorced when I was only 6 years old and I believe their separation had a huge impact on why the bond between my brother and I is so strong. . My father remarried Louise, an elementary school teacher in New Maryland. Louise has two daughters: Erin, twenty-one, and Sarah, fifteen. At first I wasn't a fan of the idea because I felt like she was trying to replace my mother and I was afraid of losing my father to my new family members. I finally accepted their relationship. In fact, it has benefited me overall by making me an extremely independent young woman. During my years in the school system, I was very in love with sports. More specifically, volleyball. I started playing at the age of seven and continued competing until the end of my twelfth grade. Being part of countless club, school and provincial teams, the sport has occupied a large part of my life. Another passion of mine was leadership, which I devoted myself to in the middle of my studies until the twelfth grade when I was elected vice president. Something I was particularly proud of was being chosen as the President of Best Buddies last year. It was an incredible experience and I made many friendships that will last a lifetime. Goals If you take the time to get to know me, you will learn that I am ambitious. My short term goals would be to successfully complete my first year of college. “Doing well” in my opinion means obtaining an average of A to A+, this will give me a good foundation for the academic years to come. Additionally, I would like to become more confident when speaking in front of a large group. Finally, ultimately, my goal is to obtain a Master's degree in commerce which will hopefully allow me to acquire a well-paid job. With this job, I hope to be financially stable to start a family. Most importantly, I would like to live a long, healthy and happy life..
