Essay / Cell phones in class: keep them banned, or...
Cell phones are quickly becoming children and teens' new best friend. In fact, they even seem to replace human contact and now constitute the means of communication between children and adolescents. Cell phone sales have exploded at an alarming rate and many consumers are under 18, meaning they are still in primary and secondary school. Society has influenced students to think that they need to own a cell phone to be “cool,” thus placing the issue of cell phones in the context of classroom society versus students (domain 13). Cell phones are now starting to be a significant distraction in the classroom and are the new thing that many schools have had to implement a policy for; many of these policies simply prohibit the use of cell phones at school. However, it is not surprising that students refuse to follow this rule and now simply hide their cell phones. Cell phones have many negative effects on a class because they are a big distraction and also related to the issue of privacy, but is it possible that cell phones can have a positive impact on the class and make it easier to student learning? phones have become a distraction in class, with all their texting, gaming, and camera features, there is no way a cell phone is not a distraction. Cell phones have become an important part of teenagers' lives and, according to a study by CTIA and Harvis Interactive in the United States, one 17-year-old surveyed said that "leaving the house without my phone is almost like leaving the house. naked” (CBS News investigation). Students start to feel anxious when they are without their cell phones, and this could be a possible answer to the question of why students feel... in the middle of a sheet...... it means incorporate them into a classroom or ban them from schools altogether.
