There are three possible sources of energy. The sources are: wind, solar and hydraulic fracturing. There are ups and downs in all renewable energy and here they are. Solar energy is just one form of energy. Solar energy has its advantages, but most people think of solar panels as expensive disadvantages, but it is actually an advantage. Solar energy saves money from day one. Electricity is one of the main things we need to clean up and solar energy is the way to do it. (Shanan 1-4) Solar energy is a visible form of alternative energy. Solar panels capture energy from the sun's rays and convert it into electricity. Solar energy offers a clean form of energy. Solar energy has political considerations, just like oil. (Linden 1-4) The Virginia Water Resource Research Center found that solar PV uses about 21 times less water than nuclear power, about 16 times less water than coal power, and 8 times less water than a combined cycle power plant. (Shanan 1-4) Solar energy also has disadvantages. Solar panels generate a ton of pollution when they're built, and the sun doesn't always shine on them. (Shanan 1-4) It may take several years to see a return on investment. Solar energy is not universal because different regions of the world receive different amounts of sunlight. Solar energy may not offer the best solution: it is distracting, has high environmental costs, and requires large cash outlays. There may be contamination due to radio activation used to make solar panels. (Obstacle 1-4) Installation is expensive, at $80,000 for a three-bedroom after the federal rebate. Solar power is expensive, but I'd rather take the more expensive and environmentally safer route than the cheaper and more harmful electric alternative. We should go green and save the world.
