Unicorns – “extinct in the modern world”, do not inhabit the world, with the exception of Laura’s glass sculpture. Being one of a kind leaves the unicorn "a little lonely" due to its inability to interact with anyone of its own kind. This circumstance is also paralleled in Laura's life.
