    My mother's friend is pregnant with five children in total. Of these five, only four are still there. At the time, her family was having money problems and she had just learned of her fourth pregnancy. Her friend had to make one of the hardest decisions of her life. It was either keep the baby and her whole family would be homeless, or go to a clinic and have an abortion. Abortion should be a legal and safe option for all pregnant women when deciding the future of their unborn baby. In 2011, Jennie McCormack was arrested for taking a pill called RU-486, "the abortion pill" (Hass). RU-486 is a drug approved only by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and must be used by women "through the 49th day after their last period." The woman takes two pills to “cause fetal death” (Consider Abortion). McCormack, who had three children in total, did not have the money to travel to the nearest clinic, two and a half hours away, worth $500. Thinking of his children, McCormack called his sister and asked her to buy the pill online for $200. Jennie thought she was twelve weeks old, but after taking mifepristone and misoprostol, the drugs RU-486, it turned out she was between eighteen and twenty-one weeks old. When the fetus came out of her, she was terrified and called her friend, who then called her sister. The sister reported Jennie to the police. Idaho, where Jennie lives, has a 1927 law that punishes any woman who induces her own abortion with five years in prison. Jennie's case went to court and was later dropped due to lack of evidence.
