Murder on the Mind is written by LL Bartlett and was published in 2005. This book has three very great main characters who all give a bit of their own personality to the book. There are also four main characters in the background that make the story very interesting. The main characters are Jeff Resnick, Richard and Matt Sumner. Jeff is an insurance investigator in New York. He was attacked one night and severely beaten with a baseball bat. After being hospitalized for a few weeks, his brother Richard arrived. Richard is a retired doctor, a very wealthy man who lives in his parents' old house in ___ with his girlfriend Brenda. He offers Jeff to stay with him and soon they are on their way back to Richards. Jeff starts having horrible nightmares after falling asleep. His nightmares consist of a hunter shooting a deer, then taking it home, hanging it from the rafters of his garage, and gutting it. Soon, his dreams no longer come true only at night but now during the day. The deer's vision changed drastically one day, the deer he once saw has now transformed into a man hanging by his neck in a garage. The day after this vision, Jeff reads an article about a man who was murdered with the same description of the man he sees in his visions. His curiosity has gotten the better of him and now he can't stop thinking about why this man was murdered, and he wants to find out. He begins researching facts on his own until he decides to jump right in and ask the victim's wife for an interview. Surprisingly, the woman agrees, Jeff begs his brother to help him and Richard reluctantly agrees. They head to the Sumner house, they are greeted by Mrs. Sumner. She's a nice woman but when Jeff asks to take a look at the garage where Matt was in the middle of a paper......directly at Jeff she fired but Richard jumped in front of Jeff. Sharon was chased into the basement by Jeff and he was trying to keep her there while talking. She keeps shooting and as soon as the last shot was fired, Jeff tackled her to the ground and held her there until the cops got there and they were both handcuffed. Once everything was settled, Jeff was taken out of the handcuffs and walked out of the church to find Sharon's son in his car, Jeff drove him inside to Detective Hayden. Jeff went to the hospital to see Richard, he had lost a lot of blood, but he was recovering from surgery and doing well. Three days after her arrest, Sharon Walker was found hanging in her cell. Six days after Richard was shot, he was released from the hospital. Jeff never returned to Manhattan and Richard eventually became engaged to the love of his life, Brenda.
