Essay / Comparison of Mustapha Mond from Brave New World and...
My relationship with power and authority is that I completely agree. People need someone to look out for them. Ninety-five percent of people on the planet need to know what to do and how to behave (Arnold Schwarzenegger). I am comparing and contrasting 2 different characters from 2 different books, Mustapha Mond from Brave New World and Captain Beatty from Fahrenheit 451. These 2 books are very similar and different in many ways. They are both similar because of the power or force they have over people and how they brainwash them. Captain Beatty somehow persuades people to believe that the books contain unpleasant and contradictory facts and opinions that should be destroyed. But there were just a few people who thought otherwise. Then there is Mustapha Mond who is the leader/controller of the World State. The society there is very scary and unusual. Mustapha creates stability in London and allows them to control others. His puppets instruct society/people in their sleep through their brainwashing voices, controlling the forces of Brave New World, starting with the soothing auditory hypnopaedia of youth to synthetic music boxes right down to the disembodied voice used to calm the riot in Chapter. Fifteen. Since Mustapha is a controller of the world, it makes sense that he personally embodies one of the primary instruments of control. They both gain a lot of knowledge that they don't want others to get their hands on because it could be a terrible outcome, as the past history of the world and much of bookish knowledge must be kept secret from the rest of the world . If people learn about world history, they will revolt against Mustapha Mond and Captain Beatty. But I don't think they'll ever get to that point. If there is... middle of paper ...... before you realize what's happened, Bernard is on his way down. All of a sudden, our hero is a blackmailing socialite, with no pride and even less honor. Luckily for us, John who is the antagonist steps in to fill the antagonist vacancy. He is principled, courageous, compassionate and, of course, most importantly, incredibly attractive, the book says. Overall, I think these two books were each interesting in their own way. They both include a large number of similarities and differences between the books, characters, and storyline. I am glad I had the opportunity to read and write about these two books because I gained a lot of knowledge and understanding of the books and what both authors were trying to say about our future. The authors are both right and wrong about our future, too bad they are not alive to see the outcome of our world..
