She becomes haggard over time and has mistreated her body and overall health according to the text, and is described as the old woman of the book. Her death is not from natural causes and is not the right type of death because it could have been avoided and rather than making the effort to resist and try to regain her health, she admits her defeat, the notion of death next to his already gloomy prospects. on life allows him to lose the meaning of life (Tolstoy 49), which is the opposite of what Tolstoy promotes. Losing the meaning of life inspires bad decisions, and we begin to lose the meaning of life and become consumed by the notion of impending doom and death.
