Essay / My Further Career Goals: Nurse and Science Tutor
As a girl born and raised in Nepal, I never imagined that today I would be in the United States pursuing my dream of becoming a registered nurse (RN). I am the eldest daughter in the family who has financial responsibilities towards my family in Nepal in addition to studies. My journey at LaGuardia began in fall 2016 with ESL classes, as English is my second language. Knowing that the path I chose to become a registered nurse will not be easy, I still chose to follow it because I was dedicated and passionate about achieving my goals despite all the difficulties. Since joining this school, I applied for the foundation scholarship and the scholarships have helped me cover my educational expenses, such as purchasing course-related software, books, and a MetroCard. Thanks to this, I was able to focus 100% on my studies rather than worrying about expenses. This is my final semester of graduation and I am once again looking forward to the continued support of the foundation. Say no to plagiarism. I plan to pursue my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at SUNY at Buffalo right after I graduate from LaGuardia. I aspire to become a Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) within the next five years. CRNAs are advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) with doctoral degrees who work collaboratively with physicians to safely administer anesthesia and monitor patients throughout their surgical procedures. I plan to achieve this career goal through my role as a critical care nurse, as it will give me hands-on experience with the surgical aspect of patient care, which will help me build my foundation in clinical knowledge and to develop my leadership skills that are necessary for a CRNA. My vision as a nurse is that I will see each patient as an individual and provide individualized care. I want to be an open-minded and compassionate nurse in providing quality care to patients so that they can trust me as their care provider. I recognize that nursing is a very challenging and noble profession, and I wish to pursue this career as I believe it is a field that will provide me with many opportunities to help people and make a difference in their lives every day. Before enrolling in After the nursing program at LaGuardia Community College, I earned a certified nursing assistant (CNA) license and worked as a nursing assistant at Dry Harbor Nursing Home for four month. This position directly gave me the opportunity to experience different aspects of the healthcare system. I was surprised to learn that healing is much more than just caring for a sick person. Most people think of a hospital as a place where only the sick are treated. Although the disease is treated, many patients suffer mentally, which could affect their mental health. To prevent, nurses not only treat the illness, but also focus on healing the whole person by providing holistic care. Holistic care involves taking care of the patient's mind, body and soul. This requires recognizing the effects of illness on a person's emotions, religion, family, relationships and society. Taking into account.
