Literary naturalism first appeared in France between the late 1850s and the 1880s, when great social changes and enormous progress flourished in all sectors of society. Naturalism moves slightly away from realism which focuses mainly on those belonging to the so-called higher social status. Along with the flourishing of the industrial revolution, the replacement of manual operation with mechanical operations led to unemployment. The rapid development of capitalism and technology calls for new literary reform. At the beginning of the 20th century and the end of the 19th century, the emergence of new literary trends in the field of American literature. New literary themes and new creative styles are very different from traditional early literature. Some people are warmly welcomed, others are very frightened, and still others are confused. This was later called the literary tendencies of naturalism. In this literary movement, people saw broken optimistic idealism, humans were not perfect in all aspects, and the development and progress of society full of enthusiastic and talented young American writer. Stephen Crane was one of the pioneers of this naturalist literature. Stephen Crane Crane was born in 1871 in the United States, New Jersey, home of many fourth-ranked siblings whose parents were Methodists. At the age of 21, Stephen Crane published works, a minor celebrity at 24, died of tuberculosis at 29. During the nine years of his brief literary career, he published six novels, six collections of short stories, two collections of poetry and one drama. His life was like a meteor race across the American literary sky, ephemeral, regrettable, but wonderful. In 1891, Crane left his studies and went to work for a journalist in New York.
