First, public health services can have a direct impact, but by promoting reproductive health education and direct contraceptive assistance, including including emergency contraception which can contribute to reproductive autonomy. Much can be done to ensure necessary medical assistance for women, especially young mothers, as the maternal mortality rate remains very high among the economically disadvantaged. Public health can organize family planning services, prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. Different direct interventions to improve overall health, in particular by combating malnutrition and vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Indirect impact can be exerted at different levels and with the help of society. Promote general education for women from an early age, prevent violence against women, create social structures (e.g. daycare for children) that will give women the opportunity to find employment and become more financially independent.
