The point of the article is that it is not “the system” that is broken, but rather us. This article reviews several aspects of political dysfunction and how it affects our daily professional and personal lives. Finally, he presents some ideas on how to deal with the healthcare debacle, which is representative of the lack of functionality we currently experience. Politics and Leadership Page 3Section 1This analysis asserts the view that government policy and business policy are not that divergent. In fact, there are some striking similarities. Well-conducted policy in any area can be controversial and is very similar to tribal life. If we can accept that tribal life is the management of a set of resources (land, water, areas and services) and interests (values, ethics, rules, hierarchy and history), then is it not not a precise enough description of the policy? Additionally, in tribal life and politics, it is natural for those who feel unsuccessful to view disagreements as simply the result of the other parties' ignorance (Meacham, 2010). As an example, just look further than the current debate (and disagreement) over health care. In both business and government, politics has a significant impact on the distribution between the “haves” and the “have-nots.” Therefore, if one plays politics well, one will "get" in government...... middle of paper ......
