  • Essay / The Importance of Interactive Writing - 719

This is where your pencil meets the paper. This is when you want your students to focus on writing down all of their ideals and thoughts as quickly as possible, but not worry about spelling or grammar. Remember, your students should focus on the message of the story and read the story to make sure it makes sense. The goal of the rough draft is for students to focus on their ideals and put them on paper without fear of making errors in grammar, capitalization, punctuation, or paragraph structure (Spivey, 2006). At this point, teachers can ask students to pair up and choose to write about the same topic to work on a story together. When each group is finished, they can share their drafts with the others.
