Recently, trying to express oneself has become more and more difficult; this is the case for patients suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome. Post-traumatic stress disorder is the result of extreme exposure to physical harm or danger. These traumatic experiences can be caused by reasons such as near death, serious accident, violence, war, torture or any event that causes extreme fear. A common phenomenon among patients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder is a hesitation or inability to discuss or verbally express their emotions and thoughts. As an art therapist, we must find a method to awaken positive emotions and treat the symptoms of emotional freezing in patients with post-traumatic stress disorder. Otherwise, these patients will suffer a lifetime of damaged relationships and countless ailments, both physical and mental. That being said, the associative art method and its various forms will bridge the gap between the trapped emotions held by those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and the positive aspects of their lives. Associative art is expressive art forms such as sculpture, drawing. , and the painting that relates to the traumatic event. For post-traumatic stress disorder patients to heal, they must express and manage their emotions to regain positive focus. Although there are three common effects these patients experience, avoidance, intrusion, and hyperarousal, associative art can be implemented for each of them as a remedial solution to help patients express feelings. emotions and thoughts that cannot be put into words.
