First, I explain how an authoritarian teacher establishes the hierarchy of power in educational contexts with reference to Hannah Arendt's (2006) discussion of the hierarchical nature of order authoritarian, and I analyze how this hierarchy of power liberates and oppresses students. Secondly, I underline the inequality of intelligence between the authoritarian teacher and the students, in particular by referring to the “stultification” of Jacques Rancière (1991) and the “banker” of Paulo Freire (1996).
