China, one of the ancient countries left on earth with about five thousand years of rich history. Over the five thousand year period, China repeated the three-stage cycle: unified as a country, then separated with different ideas and conflicts leading to wars; however, united as one again afterwards, the one who won the battle. Every time China unifies into one country, a new dynasty is formed, and nearly twenty dynasties have formed and failed. Additionally, some of these dynasties could split with the South and North and many smaller kingdoms like the Jin Dynasty (Western - 265-317 AD and Eastern - 217-420 AD) and the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms ( 907-960 AD). Tang Dynasty is one of the important and widely influenced dynasties in Chinese history, because it is one of the rich and powerful dynasties. Even today, most Chinese people like to call themselves “Tang people 唐人”. When we ask the Chinese something about the Tang Dynasty, people say several different things such as: Li Shimin, Emperor Taizong of Tang, Xuan Jia Jun “玄甲军”, Wu Zetian “Empress Wu”, Government Reform, Rebellions and Fictional Dramas from the Life of Tang Taizong. The Tang Dynasty was founded by Li Yuan, Emperor Gaozu of Tang in 618 AD, he was Duke of Tang and governor of Taiyuan in the Sui Dynasty. In 617 AD, a year before the Tang Dynasty uprising, the Sui government collapsed and failed in the Korean campaign which caused the peasant uprising. Like all other rebel leaders during this period, Li Yuan formed his own armies and rebelled. Among all other rebel groups, he successfully occupied the Sui capital - Chang'an and supported Yang You, the grandson of Emperor Yang, as the new emperor. Li Shimin also defeats the neighboring country, such as the Eastern Gokturks, Tibetans and Uyghurs to show the military power of Tang.
