    EssayIn this unit we had read the book 'The Thirty-Nine Steps' written by John Buchan, so far we had read from chapter one 'The Man Who Died' to chapter six 'The Bald Writer'; in this chapter, Richard Hannay, the main character, is the one who tells us the story, this means that the story is written in the first person. He tells us the very interesting story of Franklin P. Scudder, at first, but then he was assassinated and Hannay thought he was obligated to continue investigating Scudder's story and find an answer, but this is not so simple, for "his 'enemies', who were Scudder's enemies at first, 'pursue him night and day through the hills of Scotland.' The story of this book takes place in London and Scotland. I chose this essay as an opinion essay where I will obviously give my opinion on the chapters we have read so far. As I already mentioned in the introduction, Franklin P. Scudder was assassinated; he was murdered in Hannay's apartment and there was no idea how the murderer was and when Hannay sees Scudder there in the ground with a knife....
