  • Essay / My computer won't turn on - 1130

IntroductionAs a user who just built a computer, I used a full size ATX motherboard with 2 x 4GB DDR3 cards, Intel i7-4940MX 64-bit and an AMD Radeon R9 graphics card. I tried turning on my computer and nothing happens. The fan turns on for a brief second then turns off. I also have to say that when I press the power button, no LEDs light up. There is also no beep when I press the power button. And finally the screen no longer lights up either. I made sure all the plugs on the back are in the correct socket and tight, which they are. I also opened the case and there were no loose parts. The computer is also in a well-ventilated area so that air can pass through; it's not in a corner or anything. When I was assembling my home computer, I just broke up with my girlfriend, so it's possible that when I was assembling my computer, I may have forced something, but I went in and checked the RAM and the DVD drive, the PCI video card and so on, and all was not broken and was not lost. Come to think of it, when I was installing the CPU I heard a grinding noise but ignored it as I was still able to close the CPU latch. I should also mention that this is my first computer that I built myself. I've had a lot of computers in the past, but this was the year I thought it would be worth it to build my own home computer. I asked a friend of mine who is pretty computer savvy to come take a look and see if he could find the problem. He took out all the RAM cards, the video card, the DVD drive, the power supply, and he looked at all the connectors and he didn't see any problems with anything, so I put everything back in. He also wore one. anti-static bracelets so it doesn't cause it...... middle of paper .......com/od/findbysymptom/ht/nopowertopc.htm (accessed April 18, 2014) My computer is not running not sure, Puget Systems, [Online 2014], https://www.pugetsystems.com/help/troubleshooter.php?id=20 (accessed April 18, 2014)Julia Saveliev, Juan, Chris Hadley, « How to fix the bent pins on a CPU", (Wiki How), [Online], http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-Bent-Pins-on-a-CPU, (accessed April 19, 2014)NCIXcon, "Fixing a Bent / Broken Pins on a CPU (NCIX Tech Tips #36)”, (YouTube), [Online April 6, 2006], https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdDccsbv5hA, (accessed April 19 April 2014) slightly bent pins in processor socket, what can be done?, Anandtech, [online February 28, 2012], http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2229248, (accessed April 19, 2014)Brain123, Olive48, Sachinsahrawat, “How to Solve a Problem”, (Wiki How), [Online], http://www.wikihow.com/Solve-a-Problem, (accessed April 20, 2014)
