Essay / Buffaloes Fed with Flowers by Vachel Lindsay - 1051
My static image is on the poem “Buffaloes Fed with Flowers” written by Vachel Lindsay. Urbanization is one of the dominant and important themes, supported by the idea of nature and man. My static image is therefore based on this theme. Urbanization is the process associated with the development of civilization and technology in a rural area, as shown in this poem. “Flower-Fed Buffaloes” is about the rapid extinction and disappearance of not only American buffalo, but also Native American tribes, due to urbanization (shown in the poem through objects like locomotives). The verbal techniques used to describe this Theme is the quote and the engraving on the last image. First, the quote says, “is carried away by the wheat.” . . the wheels, the wheels and the wheels turn.” This quote is used to show how industry and technology developed among buffalo. The phrase “is carried away by the wheat” shows how the wheat (which is willingly grown by man) is not described in any way, only showing its usefulness but no pleasure to be found in it, unlike the descriptions of nature. The following line "the wheels, the wheels and the wheels are turning" is used, as it reflects the monotonous movement of the technology that is the train, and parallels the previous beautiful and graceful movements of nature, such as the 'grass. This shows the continued invasion of urbanization. The second verbal technique is the engraving on the tombstone of the last image saying "RIP MURDERED BY THE MODERN WORLD". This was particularly used to not only highlight and dramatize the morbid effects of urbanization (as shown in the image), but also to show the real reason why the buffalo became extinct and the Native Americans "disappeared" - ...... middle of paper ......n happened. Therefore, it shows when this was the turning point of the poem, so no color as light or dark could describe this moment. The format of the entire image is important because it is defined in the "rule of thirds." Indeed, as the line “is carried away by the wheat” represents the turning point and change in the poem, it is at the top. Therefore, this means that the images representing change are in the middle to represent urbanization change and its effects. Finally, the line "the wheels and the wheels and the wheels turn" is at the bottom, to emphasize the takeover of the industry, as shown in the images. Overall, in the poem "Flower-Fed Buffaloes" written by Vachel Hardy, the theme of urbanization (supported by the idea of the relationship between nature and man) is represented in my static image in many ways, including understood through visual and verbal techniques..
