Essay / Major Influences on Members of Congress - 853
Question 38Power, money, political party, and career are four main factors that influence how Congress votes. These factors can weigh heavily on a congressman or woman when choosing what they consider to be the right vote. Whether the vote benefits those they vote for or whether selfish reasons compromise their vote, which has been criticized by many taxpayers who want the money to be spent on programs, services and projects to improve the nation . Votes in Congress should always benefit the country as a whole, not specific individuals. Power is the primary influence over members of Congress. Without power, there would be no need for money, for people who aspire to the best career for reasons other than success, and for Republican and Democratic parties that dominate all parties with other opinions. Power is a great or marked capacity to do or act, force, might, force. A certain member or party that has a lot of strength in Congress can persuade other men or women in Congress to vote for what they are told. Those trapped in the schemes are usually younger members or those seeking approval and power themselves. These plans and desires for control can lead to a loss of trust and criticism of the government, not just Congress. If members are found guilty of pressure, payment of money, among other things, they can be brought to court. Ultimately, it costs the country money to hold a trial that will most likely go to the Supreme Court, which has enough cases to deal with. Not all members of Congress play mind games and vote for what they think is best for the public good. The hardest part is voting for who you think is best placed to make these decisions. Money is a powerful tool to influence anyone, not just people who are in the middle of a paper...or keeping their jobs, Members of Congress must please the majority of a state and the nation. Citizens are those who help campaign and vote to re-elect you or for someone to take your office. Voting members should remember this and consider voting for what the majority of their state wants, even if they disagree. If they don't listen to the residents of the state who are the voters, it may result in someone sitting in their old seat. These four pressures on how Congress votes can arguably be positive or negative depending on who you ask and what you believe. A lot can happen if all the vote-getting tactics were discovered. This could cause the public to increasingly lose trust in government, which could lead to many things. But for now, you should vote for those who you think support the nation and not just the city or state they are from..
