In the short story A Worn Path and a Rose for Emily, you can see many similarities as well as differences between the two main characters. When you take a look at the morals of the stories, you can better understand what happened with the two characters, Miss Emily and Phoenix Jackson. One of the main images you see about these characters is that they are both mentally insane. Although the locations are very different, they still connect on a different level. Phoenix walks to town to buy medicine for her grandson, while Emily is locked in her house with a dead man. When you base your vision on their states of mind, you find that they live in the same atmosphere. A Worn Path shows Phoenix setting her sights on getting medicine for her grandchild, while Miss Emily simply seeks to be alone. You can see it in both characters: once they set their mind to something, they will do whatever it takes to accomplish it.
