How teachers manage the process of learning to teach will certainly be influenced by their belief in a particular teaching methodology. This has the same meaning as Gage's (1964 cited in Brown, 2001) assertion that teachers' understanding of how learners learn will determine their philosophy of education, their teaching style, their approach, their methods and their classroom techniques. In fact, teachers who belong to essentialists direct the teaching process according to four beliefs, one of which addresses the subject. Essentialists advocate the reintegration of subject matter at the center of the educational process (Kneller, 1971). However, this article presents the opposite view. Precisely, due to the attention span, involvement and inability to learn abstract things in teaching children, this article will not agree with the importance of subject matter at the center of the educational process. Essentialist teachers agree with the philosophical position that this is largely a man's business. the material and social environment that dictates one's way of living. Thus, according to essentialists, the aim of the child's attendance at school is to know this world as it really is. Unfortunately, in language teaching, materials are not the only factor involved. Stern (1983) states that the main factors in language teaching cover teaching materials, teaching strategies, teacher characteristics, learner characteristics, and classroom interaction. Regarding the characteristics of learners, when presenting educational materials, teachers should take into account the attention span of students.
