Functional Areas of a Business Businesses can only achieve their corporate goals when the various functions of the business work together. There are four major functional areas in a company namely MARKETING, FINANCE, HUMAN RESOURCES AND PRODUCTION but there are other companies like LewishamCollege which have other functional areas such as LEARNER SERVICES and STUDIES GENERAL. All functions set their own goals that they want to achieve in line with the company's goals within a specific time frame. FINANCE DEPARTMENT The finance department basically supervises and manages the financial aspect of the college. The college requires the Department of Finance to maintain current and essential records of all incoming money earned and spent by the college during an accounting season. They also prepare a complete and accurate account for the Ministry of Education and the Council which provides them with funds. They carry out many activities within the college that help them achieve their business goals, such as establishing the college's budget, paying their utility bills, and the vendors that supply the college. college with equipment and stationery such as pens, markers, textbooks, projectors, whiteboards, etc. They provide money and financial support to other departments of the college such as marketing, human resources and learner services departments when they need money to complete a project. For example, at the start of another academic year, the marketing department takes money from the finance department to make posters, billboards, and flyers to make advertisements to help attract more students. ..... middle of paper ......s The service function is to provide a supportive learning environment for students so that they can feel comfortable asking questions when they have them need and ask for help when they do not know how to complete a certain lesson or assignment. The feature understands that many students struggle to ask for help when in class, creating support groups, study buddies and teachers who will help students privately understand the subject they would like to discuss. Collectively, all the departments and functions are working hard with certain similar objectives which are to promote the best performance and conduct of staff in their work, guide the college to improve performance, develop the organization and develop a well-orchestrated management culture , good communication and good relationships..
