I am 100% sure that everyone in this class has heard the stereotypes prevalent here at school. You've probably also seen internet memes captioned with a stereotype. An example of a stereotype might be "Canadians are so nice." Even though it seems like those who said this should discriminate in favor of Canadians, they continue to discriminate against other citizens of other countries. Discrimination not only happens in the digital world, but can also happen in public. At the time, racial discrimination was enormous. In movie theaters, only white people were allowed to sit, while people of color, on the other hand, had to stand on balconies. Right now we are trying to limit racial discrimination and segregation, which is a good thing and something we can continue to work towards. In private, discrimination can occur even without others knowing. The gender wage gap in Canada is an example of private discrimination in action. Did you know that according to the Canadian Women's Foundation, women earn $0.83 for every dollar earned by men? From time to time, discrimination can be hidden in places you would never think to look, as well as it can occur at times and in places you would never think to look.
