Get an original essay Art therapy is a form of therapy that uses art as a way for the patient to communicate their emotions without using words ; it often also evokes subconscious thoughts and emotions that the patient would not initially believe to be bothering them. This form of therapy works particularly well for those who are not physically or mentally able to speak or have cognitive abilities. People with autism, schizophrenia, dementia, etc. benefit from art therapy because it gives them a way to express themselves even if they don't really know how. Mute people also use art therapy to speak without words. Although art therapy helps develop and improve the cognitive abilities of people with disabilities, this does not limit this practice. Art therapy is enough for any person, regardless of age, culture, race or gender. There are art therapists who only work with one age group, because one can imagine the differences, for example, between older people and children. Even people who believe they are in a good place in their lives could benefit from art therapy because it is a form of expression, not just for unwanted emotions. You can also express your happiness or pride in art therapy. A large part of the therapeutic process is the creative process. The creative process includes every step from collecting supplies to cleaning up and all the beautiful creations in between. The process inspires pride and comfort in the client. The customer picks up the supplies of their choice, then arranges their space. Once their space is set up and they have the direction for the room, they can start working there. Once the project is completed, they present it to their therapist and explain what they have achieved, as well as what it means to them. This moment is filled with emotion, understanding, pride and closure. They could then clean up. It's easy to get lost in the process of creating art because your mind remains asleep and relaxed while your emotions take over. I learned various things not only about art therapy but about myself during this semester. I had a really hard time handling my responsibilities this semester. Not only has this semester been a challenge, but this year has been a learning experience in itself. It was my first year as a student and it took some getting used to. I wasn't used to all the responsibilities. On top of that, I was dealing with personal issues as well as health issues. Now, at the end of my first year of college, as I reflected, I recognized a few things. Although, yes, this year has been a struggle, I am so proud of the changes I have made in myself. I'm not the same person I was a year ago and I've been evaluating since I was a student here. I feel like a more well-rounded student than ever. Especially through this course, I learned that school is not just about homework and grades. Learning an art is interesting because it reminds me of the kinds of things I learn here that I would never have had the chance to learn if I wasn't.
