  • Essay / Speech Class Reflection: The Importance of Speaking

    I felt comfortable enough for my last speech that I didn't have a grade card. Not having a sheet, I felt confident about what I was going to say and the PowerPoint also helped. I'm an introvert and being in front of people is not easy. There is still room for improvement in speaking in front of people. The speech course taught me how to write a manuscript, an effective outline, and visual aids. A manuscript helps you know what you are going to say. An effective plan also helps in knowing what you are going to say and in writing the manuscript. An effective visual aid helps improve what you are trying to say and helps you remember what you are going to say. Speaking in front of people has also improved over the semester, which will require improvement. After the speech course, I still have improvements to make. The improvements I can make are greater ease in front of people, better preparation and more concrete outlines. I think I need to make these three improvements. I know I will make progress through practice. I know there will be no perfection in the areas I need
