    Art is everywhere around us, even in other subjects like mathematics, history and English. In fact, all written language is an art form. You also couldn't have very high level math without the numbers we write on the page. And a vast majority of our world history is depicted in works of art that are centuries or decades old. Art is important in our daily lives just as it thrives in mine. Throughout my life, I have devoted a lot of time to art, a passion that has allowed me to pursue incredible opportunities. It's not the final work that I love but the process of creation. There are so many ways to create art and I love them all. I am interested in taking courses from the Oxford Tradition program to focus on two more specific genres, photography and studio art. Through your classes, I want to learn new ways to become a better photographer and artist. I've been taking photography classes for over two years now, but I haven't always enjoyed it. Before I got into photography, I would see a beautiful fall tree, look at a beautifully furnished house, walk along the ocean on a clear day, but I never really noticed the details that made these things so striking. I could be anywhere and my mother would point out something like, "Look at the beautiful view of the mountains we have from here." I would give him a dismissive response like “uh hu”, without thinking about it. It wasn't until I was forced to look for beauty through the lens of a camera that I finally noticed it. Now I see colors, light and details in a whole new way.
