    Instead of investing resources and research into solving the fundamental problems of certain crimes, some societies would much prefer to invest in the maintenance and sustainability of capital punishment. Societies would be much better off if efforts were made to eliminate the cause of all crime that occurs. For example, people around the world are executed for petty crimes such as stealing food due to hunger and poverty. Instead of punishing people for their actions, societies should instead prevent new cases from happening again by seeking viable solutions such as a social protection program. This type of action would benefit society far more than capital punishment because the focus would be on improving the environment people live in instead of hiding the real problems. Another problem familiar to capital punishment is the emotional toll on crime victims and their families. Many good people find it difficult to move on from their past because they never find closure or contentment from past incidents and crimes.
