  • Essay / The impacts of George Washington, Jefferson or Jackson?

I believe his role as the first president had a far greater impact on the United States than Presidents Jefferson and Jackson. Being the first president would have been very difficult because Washington did not know exactly what his role was and what he was supposed to do. He had to make up for it as he went along. Washington once wrote: “Few can realize the difficult and delicate role which a man in my situation must play. I am walking on uncharted territory. There is practically no part of my conduct which could not subsequently constitute a precedent. President Washington had to establish many conditions and aspects of executive power. He helped make the role of president what it is today. This is part of the legacy he left behind. As I mentioned earlier, Washington had many successes in battle and was considered a national hero. Washington passed on a legacy of national determination, courage, strength and integrity. I believe these legacies are accurate because of all that Washington has done for the people and the federal government.
