Essay / Life Outcomes of the Cultural Revolution - 2018 75? » Using this as a line of inquiry, I will examine the impact of lack of education on people as they aged and began looking for jobs in China. While many can understand why a lack of education would make it more difficult to get a job, I nonetheless think we need to examine why that education was cut off, and then the effects it had on people. There are three elements to this idea of educational disruption. On the one hand, education was no longer the main point, but the revolution and the construction of socialism. Another aspect is that because of the Cultural Revolution, unfit people took on the role of teachers and provided far from suitable education to Chinese youth. The third aspect is that after graduation, students were forced to take jobs. I will include the consequences of each side. Clearly, all three of these arguments may be valid and could easily explain why education has been disrupted, not taken seriously, not sought after, or considered important by many. Robinson (March 2014) mentions that at the start of the Cultural Revolution, people seemed to get involved very quickly; this included children. At first, everyone wanted this new, idealistic thinking of China, the vision that Mao had seen and wanted his people to feel like they had accomplished something as a united country once this movement was over. Everyone wants better opportunities and a higher standard of living. Parents quickly stopped sending their children to school. Education was considered stupid, and...... middle of paper...... those who were against him for fear of corrupting the system he had planned.Works Cited Him, C, "Prometheus of the Revolution: Rural Teachers in Republican China".
