Essay / Crime and domestic terrorism in the United States
Crime is a social phenomenon. Crime has no race, gender, or economic status. Anyone can commit a crime and we are all capable of committing a crime, but it actually depends on many factors you encounter in life that make you more vulnerable to crime. The crime can be as trivial as J-walking or as serious as murder. It's not just the criminal's life that is affected when a crime is committed. The shockwave of pain that a crime can cause is exponential, and nothing brings together as large a group of people to feel that pain as a mass shooting like Columbine in 1999 or the Aurora movie theater in 2012. Many aspects come into play. The study of crime and crime itself is constantly evolving. With crime comes a justice system, a way to deal with people who break those laws that society puts in place to protect the public. The United States justice system is one of the best in the world. A justice system that defends the innocent before guilt is proven is why the world considers our justice system one of the best. Our justice system, like any other justice system, has flaws. These flaws are perceived in different ways by people. People will be unhappy with the decision and, yes, our system is not perfect, but as stated above, we have one of the best systems in the world. This study of crime using different theories has helped us explain why crime occurs. We still don't know why people create crime, but these theories can show us why popular crimes such as violent, property, and victimless crimes can occur. Domestic terrorism in the United States has been widespread throughout this country's existence. The term domestic terrorism is defined as "...the unlawful use of force or violence, as......middle of document......reviewed, could have been the subject of many theories." Humans are complex individuals and sometimes things are not what they seem. The question therefore remains: which theory is the correct one to attach to the crime? Which theory fits best? The answer is that it depends on your perspective and where you come from. Your journey will make you perceive life in a certain way. What you see depends on where you sit. Violent crimes committed by humans are interesting. There are many factors that go into why the person did what they did. In my opinion, property crimes are more common among juveniles and most people grow out of this stage as they reach adulthood. Victimless crimes are, in my opinion, crimes that are difficult to stop. For example, there are so many people downloading illegal music that it would be almost impossible for people to continue sharing music unless the punishment was severe enough..
