The career I decided to research is that of a child, family and school social worker. family and school. I chose this career because it interests me. I really enjoy a job where I can work with and help those who are in need. Earlier in the school year I took a career test at the school career center and this was a job that came up and it's part of the reason I'm taking the time to examine what is required of the job. What does a social worker do? A social worker has many tasks. They must assess the situation of the families or individuals with whom they will work. Once they evaluate what they are working with, they will help advise those who need it. If working with children, they will consult parents and/or legal guardians about what they have learned. They must be excellent active listeners. It is also essential to be able to understand the reactions of others and why someone would react the way they do. You will need to be able to have great communication skills; weather face to face, by phone or email. You must be able to be professional and polite. Social workers tend to have a sedentary profession. You won't do much physical work, but you will use your mind. You will reflect and help make a difference in the lives of those you touch.
