Essay / Anorexia Nervosa Compare and Contrast Essay - 1009
Individuals with the eating disorders mentioned should focus their treatment on the biosocial, cognitive, and psychosocial underpinnings of this disorder. People diagnosed with anorexia nervosa should treat this disorder with a multifaceted approach that includes a psychologist or licensed counselor, a doctor or nurse, and a registered dietitian. A doctor or nurse would be needed to treat this disorder, as they can treat medical problems caused by anorexia nervosa, such as osteoporosis and/or depression. A doctor is also a crucial step in the healing process because he or she can monitor patients' health and weight. A dietitian also plays a crucial role in the recovery process because they can show the person suffering from anorexia healthy ways to take charge of their eating habits. A dietitian can provide the person with an eating disorder with a better understanding of nutrition. One of the most important steps in the healing process is therapy. Therapy can help the person with an eating disorder get to the roots that caused the disorder in the first place and prevent a relapse. A person suffering from anorexia nervosa would benefit from therapy, as a psychologist can help them find healthy coping mechanisms and uncover the emotional causes of anorexia. Family therapy is strongly suggested when the person suffering from anorexia is in the adolescent stage. In some cases, hospitalization is necessary when the individual has lost weight which must be monitored by a doctor in order to restore the individual's condition.
