Essay / The Importance of Diversity on College Campuses
Essentially, students may tend to have similar or greater interests in front of their peers in order to feel accepted when participating in class. In Sheen S. Levine and David Stark's article, "Diversity Makes You Brighter," the authors point out that study participants working at diverse companies had 58% more accurate responses in a stock market project (2 ). If colleges began to diversify their campuses, students would be surrounded by individuals who do not share the same characteristics. Increasing the number of diverse students on college campuses allows a student to feel more independent, which can lead to an increase in honest results in student knowledge. Clearly, expanding college diversification helps improve education.
