    I hope to gain the skills necessary to pursue my dream of using the legal system to end racial inequities in the justice system. Although I have been an activist in my community against police violence against minorities, I believe I can do more. Activism is great for raising awareness and keeping people informed about difficult topics to talk about. However, I believe that to make a real difference in criminal justice, change must happen from within. According to the American Bar Association, 88% of all lawyers are white and only 4.8% are black. I believe that with a more diverse justice system, criminal cases involving minorities will result in fairer trials. I also believe that with a more equitable justice system, the gap in racial and economic disparities between racial groups could improve. My desire to become a lawyer was further intensified by the presence of other prominent black lawyers in America. These attorneys include U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and her predecessor Eric Holder. I am also inspired by Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby, who secured indictments for six police officers involved in the death of Freddie Gray. I hope to become a pioneer like these lawyers in the future so that I too can create my own legacy in the field of law. Additionally, by attending TRIALS
