Essay / Should every country have the right to own...
On November 6, 1945, an American bomber flew over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. The only cargo aboard this B-29 bomber was an atomic bomb awaiting its target. At 8:15 a.m., the bomb fell on Hiroshima, killing 140,000 people. Most of the 140,000 people died instantly. Unfortunately, the rest of the innocent civilians who did not come into direct contact with the bomb died in painful agony over the next four months. They died from radiation sickness and different types of cancers. Although the atomic bomb is considered one of the greatest inventions of all time, in terms of how it could protect a nation, is it really worth having many governments on alert at the same moment ? Have you thought of such a powerful weapon? Ronald Reagan described nuclear weapons as: "Totally irrational, totally inhumane, good for nothing but killing, capable of leading to the destruction of life on Earth and of civilization." ยป He only spoke the truth. President Reagan was a nuclear abolitionist. He believed that the only reason to have nuclear weapons was to prevent the Soviet Union from using theirs. The United States and Russia together possess more than 90% of the world's nuclear weapons. Why do these countries feel the need to possess so many nuclear warheads? Domination, power and paranoia. Even if some of their weapons are simply leftovers from the Cold War, that is no excuse. They could have easily been destroyed by now. Countries like Russia and the United States are hungry for power. In modern times, weapons are the most important substance to secure power. Countries with nuclear weapons use them to frighten and intimidate other nations. One day it will backfire and the consequences will be very deadly. Take North Korea and A...... middle of paper ......ey when building a bomb. Worse still, 11 entire nuclear bombs were lost in the United States. They were never recovered. If agencies and governments today struggle to track their materials, imagine how impossible it would be if every country had its own stockpile of nuclear weapons? If these stray bombs are currently in the hands of terrorists, I can guarantee that they will not hesitate to use them. In conclusion, the fact is that if every country had the right to possess nuclear weapons, we would all live in fear of attack. Our lives would be very different; we would be continually uncertain about our safety. If one country drops a bomb it would start a chain reaction, all it takes is one rogue state or organization to detonate a bomb and we would end up with armageddon..
