Essay / Organizational Culture Research - 1479
Groundbreaking research on organizational culture began in the early 1930s, but its concept was popularized in the early 1980s. Organizational culture is a reflection of the structure of organizations , which is rooted in the values, beliefs and assumptions of its members. Shared values are important to organizational functioning because they maintain the organization as a bounded unit and give it a distinct identity. Organizational culture varies from one organization to another. It plays a very important role in creating a sense of commitment, involvement and identity towards the organization and also exerts a varied influence on the behavior of members. (Sinha & Dutt, 2010). Different aspects of culture, such as decision-making practices, communication flow, relationships with colleagues, supervisory support, and work design, have shown a positive relationship with many variables such as performance financial performance of organizations (Kangis & Williams, 2000) productivity and employee satisfaction (Rogg, 2001). Sledge, Miles, and Coppage (2008) stated in their study that motivation is measured as the most important factor in job satisfaction. According to Amar, 2007 Motivation is a term related to the forces that act on a person to make them act in a certain way. It is based on changes in behavior induced by the internal or external environment. Motivating people means giving them direction and justification for what they do.
